The US Department Of Energy (DOE) has approved of a new law, which is to become effective as of 1 May 2013. According to this law, there is a prohibition on the sales and installation of 80% non weatherized furnaces. Furnace installation will be allowed only for the furnaces that are 95% and above. The 80% non weatherized furnaces will stop being sold or installed. This law will not only compel everyone to buy a furnace of high efficiency, but will also make a hole in the pocket as such units are likely to be expensive, probably double the price of a standard furnace.
